Don’t just let your children play Minecraft, get them coding with it! In this summer term weekly class, the students will be taught to code using Minecraft, in a block-based programming language (Microsoft Make Code).
Location: West Byfleet Junior School, 10 Camphill Rd, West Byfleet KT14 6EF Duration: 11 weeks Frequency: Once a week Time: 3.30 PM - 4.30 PM Note: October Half-term break (no session): 24th October 2023 No prior coding experience necessary. Minecraft play experience is highly desired but not essential. -
Weekly Minecraft Coding Club: Don’t just let your children play Minecraft; get them coding with it! In this live online weekly class, the students will be taught to code using Minecraft, in a block-based programming language (Microsoft MakeCode). In this 1 hour weekly class, students will be taught to code using Minecraft. Every week, there will be a new exciting, action-packed project with builds and mobs of all sorts! Each week, we work on a new topic from start to finish so new joiners will not be at a disadvantage. Age Requirement: 7+ Who is the course for? The course is aimed at children who are at least 7 years of age. What we will cover:
- Learn block-based Microsoft MakeCode coding similar to Scratch
- Use loops and conditionals (IF/THEN/ELSE)
- Understand variables (number, Boolean, string)
- Create and use functions
- Use all of the above to make games and build structures
- Welcome and Introductions
- Overview of the topic
- Coding in Minecraft
- Creative time decorating
- Testing and playing
- Publishing and sharing
- Wrap up
Online Minecraft Coding Club, Summer Term Timetable 2024:
Duration: 5 weeks (You can book 5 weeks for block 1) Frequency: Once a week No prior coding experience is necessary. Minecraft play experience is highly desired but not essential.Day Start Date Thursday, 5.30 PM - 6.30 PM (5 Sessions) Block 1: (18th April - 16th May 2024) Thursday, 5.30 PM - 6.30 PM (1 Sessions) Trial Session: 18th April 2024 - A laptop/computer or tablet with the Zoom installed.
