The Cyber Security course is designed for late primary to secondary aged students who are curious about how the internet really works and want to learn how to stay safe online — by learning to think like both a hacker and a defender.
Students will explore the world of cyber security through hands-on, practical activities using a custom-built vulnerable website (the Code Kids Candy Shop) as their own personal hacking playground. They’ll poke around in browser developer tools, hunt for hidden secrets, crack weak passwords, spot phishing scams, and even run a friendly Capture the Flag competition on the final day. Cyber security is one of the fastest-growing fields in tech, and the skills students pick up here are the same foundations used by professional security researchers at companies like Google, Microsoft and the National Cyber Security Centre.
This camp is a great introduction to how websites and the internet work under the hood, what makes them vulnerable, and how to defend against the most common online threats. Ethical thinking is woven through every session — students learn that these skills come with responsibility, and that the best hackers use their powers for good. After this course, students will have a solid grasp of core cyber security concepts and the confidence to stay safer online.
